Workshop Casting & Electrolytic Etching

Casting - This one-day workshop is designed to introduce beginners and experienced metal workers to pewter. All students will gain basic skills in pewter techniques, such as cutting the metal, soldering, casting, mould making and polishing. At the end of the day each student will have finished a pewter egg holder.

Etching (Acid free etching, using pure salt water and a battery charger.) - An introduction to pewter followed by a demonstration in setting up the etching equipment and various resist techniques that can be used. Each student will produce samples exploring these techniques and then use the samples as the basis for producing a set of four coasters.

There will be a maximum of 2 students on each course.

Clothing: Sensible clothing should be worn in the workshop, long sleeve tops and no open shoes. You may like to bring an apron to protect your clothes.
