Pewter Care

What is pewter?
Pewter is an alloy made predominantly from tin, to make it a more workable material other metals are added: Tin 91-95% minimum, antimony 8% maximum and 2.5% copper maximum. Modern pewter no longer contains lead so unlike the old pewter it will not tarnish and turn a dull grey with age, in fact it is a very easy material to maintain.

Looking after your pewter
All Fleur Grenier designs are made from lead-free pewter. To keep its polished lustre it should be either: Cleaned with soapy water, and then dried immediately with a soft cloth or with a silver polishing cloth or liquid. Pewter items should not be put into a dishwasher.
